Overview:

CommNet International is a dynamic regional MSP and VAR looking for an experienced Microsoft Systems Engineer to join our team. The right candidate will bring their enthusiasm to working with our clients both directly and remotely to design, configure, and support a broad range of technologies.

Knowledge and Skill Required:

  1. MCSE 2003 required.
  2. Cisco and Citrix experience and certifications a plus but not required.
  3. Associates degree (or better) in IT or a related field preferred.
  4. Programming skills (esp. scripting) a plus.
  5. Understanding of telecommunications principles and systems.
  6. Excellent verbal communication skills, written communication skills, and interpersonal skills required.
  7. 3+ years experience supporting, installing, or administering Microsoft-based network systems

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for support of local and remote computer systems and networks including, but not limited to, administration of logons, resources, security, backups, Client/Server and Terminal Services installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, moves and changes.
  2. Provide technical support on all systems to both CommNet Intl. Inc. staff and contracted off-site clients.
  3. Communicate extensively and effectively with customers, vendors, and other CommNet staff.
  4. Be current on a broad range of technologies in order to advise clients on solutions to issues of network security, business availability, network performance, data storage, etc.
    Develop and document procedures meeting ISO/TL 9000 standards and guidelines.
  5. Act as engineer-level escalation point, aiding in problem resolution, for production and Help Desk technicians. Build, catalog, test, and manage Image reload CD archives as needed for both CommNet and it’s customers.
  6. Continuous improvement of above systems to support CommNet Intl. Inc’s business plan and overall efficiency. Other duties as assigned

Problem Solving / Decision Making skill required:

Requires strong technical and non-technical problem solving skills, customer service skills and attitude, decision making skills, and attention to detail. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, as it interfaces with internal and external customers as well as vendors. Assignments come from all CommNet staff, and position requires that the employee prioritize the assignments appropriately. This position has little supervision.

Work Environment

  1. On-call availability on a shared rotation.
  2. Some off-shift weekend work is required.
  3. Travel is primarily regional.
  4. This position is fast-paced and requires the ability to deal with stress.
  5. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  6. Must be able to lift and transport 50 lbs.
  7. Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
